Team Programs

USAG Boys recently competed at the Hawaiian Pineapple Classic Meet after taking 1st in the Justin Spring Invitational at Urbana Champagne!

Coach Aleks shared the following for USAG Boys,

Level 4:

Received a very high team score for level 4 with a 175 and were overall the third-place team. Athletes received 1st-4th across different age groups. For many of them, it was their highest all-around scores so new personal bests were already achieved for most of them at the start of the season!

Level 5:

Received first place team all around with a score of 176. The Level 5 also got two ties for first place, and 1st-2nd in different age groups.

USAG D1 Girls competed at the Hawaiian Pineapple Classic Meet as well!

Coach Veronika shared the following for USAG D1 Girls and would like to congratulate all of our athletes on their very first meet in a new level,

Level 4:

Individual Level 4 team member Mollie S. took 1st place all-around, Kaitlyn J. and Anna W. tied 2nd place all-around, and Clio K. 3rd place all-around! Collectively, the Level 4 team took 2nd place team!

Level 6:

Individual Level 6 team member Caroline Zuckerman took 1st place all-around, Cameron T. 2nd place all-around, Kaitlyn C. 3rd place all-around, and Avery P. 4th place all-around. Collectively, the Level 6 team took 1st place team!!  Lizzie also placed in top 5 on vault!

Level 8:

Individual Level 8 team members Avery M. took 1st place all-around and Gabrielle G. 3rd place all-around! Rose J., even though she sprained her foot only 10 days prior, Rose showed strong will and competed on three events. This was her first time doing floor routine since her injury and she performed all of her Level 8 tumbling passes!

Level 10:

Individual Level 10 team members Helen H. took 1st place all-around and Olivia O. 2nd place all-around! Helen showed incredible fight on bars, not falling from her cast to handstand and performing her new skills. Olivia O. also did her upgraded bar routine and floor!

The D2 USAG Girls recently competed in the Aspire Classic at Bourbonnais, IL.

Coach Erik shared the following for USAG D2,

Level 3:

The Aspire Classic went fairly well and the girls should all be proud that they completed their very first competition. We received 7th place overall as a Team (out of 15 LVL3 teams total), which is good but we have many areas we must improve upon. The girls now have a better understanding of what is required of them in order to compete against the best, and I’m sure that they will work even harder now than they have before.

Level 4:

The Aspire Classic went very well and the girls should all be proud their independent accomplishments as well as their Team Award of 4th place overall. There were 3 separate sessions for this level which means we had a lot of competition (tough competition at that) and they are already a little ahead of where the LVL4s were last year by this time in regards to placement.
• 4th Team Overall

• 1st Place
• Zoe Carbone- Floor
• Angelique Rodriguez- Vault

• 2nd Place:
• Olivia Haijdu- Bars
• Emily Leach- Bars
• Angelique Rodriguez- Bars; AA
• Lily Kaplan- Floor

• 3rd Place:
• Zoe Carbone- AA
• Lela Lane- Vault
• Isabella Valentino- Floor
Level 5:

The Aspire Classic went better than expected and the girls should all be very proud of their independent accomplishments, winning 1st as a Team on Vault and Bars, and their Team Award of 2nd place overall (it was the closest we have been to beating Aspire).
• 2nd Team Overall

• 1st Place
• Alexa Conforti- Vault
• Gabriella Conforti- Bars
• Ava Jackson- Bars
• Ariya King- Beam
• Gabriella Conforti- Floor/AA
• Gabi Figueroa- Floor/AA

• 2nd Place
• Gabriella Conforti- Vault
• Meghan Carrigan- Bars
• Gabi Figueroa- Bars
• Ariya King- AA
• Ava Jackson- AA

• 3rd Place
• Ariya King- Vault
• Alexa Conforti- Bars
• Madelyn Starr- Bars
• Alexa Conforti- Floor/AA
• Ava Jackson- Floor

Our USAG Trampoline Team kicked off their season with an AAU-sanctioned home meet at Gym B (2500c West Bradley Place).

Coach Maegen shared the following,

Our home meet went very well! We hosted an AAU Judges course the day before where we had a few parents and an IK Coach become certified Trampoline and Tumbling judges. At our competition we had two athletes from Dupage Trampoline and Tumbling attend. Many of our athletes hit their highest scores in their careers so far. On Double Mini we had some athletes receive 9.9’s and 9.8’s and on Trampoline several of our athletes hit 9.0’s or higher! It was an exciting competition since our athletes were able to show their new routines and skills to their parents.

We are all very proud of our gymnasts and their hard work.

We look forward to 2019 competitions!!!!

Go IK!

Upcoming Meets

Our GIJO and AAU/XCEL Team will have their first competitions this season at the start of the new year, first weekend of 2019, at Leenda’s Island in Waukegan, IL! November 2018

Introduction

As the crunchy leaves get ready to be buried in snow we have some announcements to share regarding recent developments: we have confirmed our Thanksgiving schedule, made efforts to encourage fun, creativity, and spirit for our younger students, and have a couple announcements regarding Adult Classes & our coming Winter Wonderland schedule.

Thanksgiving Schedule

IK Gymnastics will not be having Recreational classes on Thanksgiving Day, November 22nd, and on Black Friday, November 23rd. Tuition has already been prorated with these dates in mind when payment was processed last month. Team Members, please consult your program admin regarding any schedule changes if you have not received confirmation.

STUFFING!

Recreational Classes

As part of our new approach to this season, the class content will vary a bit more than it did in the past and include more creative activities such as mini-routines and strength contests. Main focus for these activities is to assess current progress and address areas that need improvement (weaknesses); while also focusing on strengths for motivational purposes.

Adult Classes

The Adult Class discounts are here to stay! (Although the Current Family Discount will no longer be a spooky Halloween special, it WILL remain as an ongoing 25% offer!) These discounts can be reviewed within our Adult Classes page by clicking the “Special Offers!” button.

Team Programs

To kick off the competition season, we have our USAG Boys competing first for the weekend of December 7th – 9th in the Justin Spring Invitational at Urbana-Champaign! Good luck USAG Boys!

Winter Wonderland Schedule

There will be no Recreational classes from December 24th – January 6th. Tuition has been prorated and this change has been reflected in the statements sent on the 15th and in the payment processed earlier today on the 20th. Winter Camps will be announced soon and we look forward to giving you more information regarding the most wonderful time of the year!

We will be here to make sure you are safe and have a productive work out to your needs, ranging from but not limited to: strength training, conditioning, flexibility, or that backflip you’ve been dreaming of. You’re more than welcome to create or participate in games that encourage you to get out there are get moving in what may be the largest playground for your child-like intuition to swing, climb, and fly through the air in Chicago.

If your child inspired you to get back in the gym then there hasn’t been a better time with our Current Family Discount going on until the end of October. We have different options tailored to your own individual commitment level and it’s definitely worth checking out the space at Gym A if you haven’t already. Whether it’s just for one day to get lost in the foam pit, 3 days a week in our monthly plan, or a 10-pack for you to work out whenever you’re available, we know for certain that we will be happy to see you because we know your commitment can be just as inspiring.

Halloween

There will be no recreational classes on Halloween, Wednesday October 31st. If you are on a team, please check with your program admin regarding any schedule changes.

Introduction

We hope you’ve had a great start to the Regular Season 2018-2019! We’re excited to introduce several new changes including a new make-up policy and a revised assessment process. We have also opened more times for our IK Kids and Trampoline classes!

Make-up Policy (Regular Season)

September 4th 2018 – June 16th 2019

The Make-Up Policy at IK Gymnastics is as follows:

  • Each student is allowed up to 8 make-ups for their class within the Regular Season
  • Absences must be called ahead in advance*
  • Absences are eligible for make-up if tuition has already covered them. (ex: November absences are not eligible for make-up until November tuition is paid for)
  • If make-ups are not used within the Regular Season, they will be forfeited on the last day
  • Make-ups cannot be rescheduled once they have been finalized
  • Excessive make-up requests may be denied
  • Competitive team members are not eligible for make-ups
  • There will be no pro-rated tuition for any missed classes
  • Make-ups are based on available space and are not guaranteed

*As a common courtesy to other families. If families do not confirm their absence ahead of time then it will take away that opportunity from another family to do a make-up.

Assessments

Formative Assessments

– For the 2018-2019 Regular Season, our Recreational Gymnastics coaches will be assisting to a greater degree with keeping record of students’ progress by using updated assessment rubrics which we will be introducing this year. Testing will be ongoing from class to class, in addition to using benchmark testing of whole classes given at random times to ensure the most realistic and valid assessment of a student’s current abilities

– Due to time constraints between classes, coaches will not be available to provide additional detail about an individual student’s progress; however, a more in depth explanation of a student’s progress may be requested

Individual Assessments

– More detailed, individual assessments may still be scheduled for $20 outside of prime time class hours through info@ikgym.com

Recreational Programs

IK Kids classes have been added to Saturdays, at 8:00am.

Trampoline Classes have also been added on Sundays at 9:00am, 10:00am, and 11:00am. These Sunday Trampoline Classes will only be available until December 16th.

October 2017

October 2017

Introduction

We hope you’ve been enjoying the fall weather! We would like to remind you that the Gym will be open on Halloween, Tuesday, October 31st for regularly scheduled classes. Next month we will however be closed on Thursday, November 23rd for Thanksgiving. The USAG Boys and XCEL/AAU Team are starting their competitive season very soon in the next couple weeks. Event Specific classes start this week and Rhythmic and Dance starts the week of November 6th, if you’re interested see below for more information.

Recreational Programs

Event Specific classes are the same price as before, $20, and will be offered from 7:30pm – 8:00pm Monday through Friday. The current schedule is as follows:

  • Monday 7:30pm: Trampoline with Coach Kevin.
  • Tuesday 7:30pm: Bars with Coach Kat.
  • Wednesday 7:30pm: Bars with Coach Kevin.
  • Thursday 7:30pm: Floor with Coach Kat.
  • Friday 7:30pm: Trampoline with Coach Kevin.

These classes are drop-in so no commitment is required, however, we are only offering this to current families so this may supplement their current training. As a reminder, Event Specific classes are capped at a maximum of 4 students so please register ahead of time. If we see that an hour before training no student is scheduled to attend, then we will not be holding the Event Specific class for that night. Please call or email the front desk to register.

The reason we offer Event Specific training is because we noticed that students of all skill levels typically have events that are weaker than others and struggle to obtain certain skills, even if they excel in specific areas. These classes were designed with these particular students in mind with the goal of improving skill acquisition, strength, and confidence. It is common that a child my feel frustrated being stuck in the same level because they need extra help on a specific event and private classes are a luxury not everyone can afford. This is also why the class ratio is restricted to four students at the most.

Rhythmic and Dance classes start Monday, November 6th, and will be offered to girls at the beginner 2 level or higher. This class will incorporate Rhythmic Gymnastics Apparatuses such as ribbons, hoops, balls, and ropes. It is a $30 drop-in class that will be offered on Mondays 6:00pm – 8:00pm.

Lastly, we would like to remind you that we opened Sports Acro drop-in classes on Saturday afternoons earlier this month! Please call or email the front desk for more information.

Team Programs

The USAG Boys Team will be competing in the Paul Hamm meet the weekend of November 17th – 19th. We hope to see our team members start the season off right as we know and we’ve seen how hard working our athletes are.

The GIJO and XCEL/AAU Teams will be happy to know that Genevieve is doing great! She returned to the gym this past week and shared with us that her arm is in the process of feeling better. Feel free to sign her cast; she will have it removed in five weeks and doesn’t mind having it signed by the coolest kids ever. The XCEL Team will be competing in the Judges Cup the weekend of November 9th – 11th.
